Ships dock at the Costa Maya cruise port near Mahahual. Leave time to walk the pier and reach the public transport exit.
Getting around
Mahahual is a short vehicle trip away. Chacchobén needs a longer arranged return transfer; do not rely on finding a taxi at the ruins.
Make time for
The malecón and beach are part of the same waterfront, making it easy to keep a village day simple.

Stroll along the seafront and stop where something catches your eye.
60–90 minutes to visit
Public promenade outing; meals, loungers and beach-club services cost extra. Heat and exposed stretches make a taxi from the port the more comfortable choice.

Mahahual beach break
Spend longer by the sea beside the village promenade.
90–150 minutes to visit
US$25 is an editorial allowance for beach facilities, not a quoted day pass. Agree on any minimum spend and chair charges before settling in. Sargassum and sea conditions vary. This is the same village waterfront as the malecón, so choosing both mainly extends your stay.

Chacchobén archaeological site
Visit the Maya ruins on a longer inland outing.
90–120 minutes to visit
INAH lists foreign visitor admission at MXN155. US$15 is a planning allowance, not a currency conversion; transport, guiding and any other charges are separate. The INAH visitor directory lists 9am–3pm, last entry 2:30pm, while another INAH page gives a later close: confirm directly and plan around the earlier time. Uneven ground and steps; arrange a return vehicle before departing.
