Where you arrive
Larger cruise ships anchor and tender to Perrotti Park in downtown Newport. Smaller vessels may dock at South Alofsin Pier at Fort Adams. These are different starting points; choose the one confirmed by your ship.
Getting around
Downtown is walkable from Perrotti Park. The Breakers and Cliff Walk are farther away. Route 67 links the Newport Transportation Center with the Bellevue Avenue and Salve Regina area; check the current timetable and walk to the attraction from the stop. From Fort Adams, use the separately estimated taxi routes. Discover Newport lists Route 67 as fare-free May 22–October 31, 2026. Make time for
Pair harbor browsing with one major stop. The Cliff Walk card covers an out-and-back northern section from Memorial Boulevard, not the entire trail.

Explore the downtown harbor streets and browse around Bowen’s and Bannister’s wharves.

Mostly gentle walking with uneven paving, busy crossings and crowded wharf lanes. Shopping and meals cost extra.

The Breakers
Visit the mansion and its grounds with time to enjoy the self-guided tour.
75–100 minutes to visit
Reserve a timed ticket; standard adult admission is listed at US$32. The back and south terraces are closed for restoration until November 2026, while surrounding gardens and the back lawn remain open. Check the operating calendar and accessibility information. Bring headphones for the audio tour.

Cliff Walk: northern section
Take a shorter out-and-back walk from Memorial Boulevard for ocean views, returning to the same entrance.
45–75 minutes to visit
Use the northern out-and-back section from Memorial Boulevard and obey barriers. Discover Newport continues to report a detour between Narragansett Avenue and Webster Street. Open sunrise to sunset; free public access. The full trail includes rough terrain and is outside this outing. Wind, rain and slippery surfaces can change the difficulty.
